In view of the horrific images coming out of the Russian war on Ukraine, which have been ever-present in the media in recent weeks, WAFIOS promptly decided to launch an appeal for donations within the company. The proceeds were to be split equally between two non-profit regional aid organizations that work with fleeing families arriving here as well as on the ground in Ukraine.
The response from our workforce was incredible, and plenty of generous donations were received in an anonymous mailbox set up for this purpose. Amounts up to a single donation of €1,000 quickly added up to a total of several thousand euros. In response to this generosity, the Executive Board decided not only to double the amount, but to round it up to the total of €10,000.
On April 28, checks for €5,000 were presented to representatives from each of the non-profit organizations. The first organization is "Kinder brauchen Frieden e.V." which is involved in numerous activities, including the shipment and purchase of medical supplies, support for Ukrainian mothers who have arrived here with their children, as well as active help with the ongoing maintenance of a facility in Poland that has taken in orphans and their foster mothers.
The second choice was "3 Musketiere Reutlingen e.V." which has been working full-time and on a voluntary basis since 2016 to help people in need all over the world and is involved in the current emergency situation on the ground in Ukraine and Poland with two project teams. The spectrum ranges from supporting fleeing people with hot meals to supplying medicine and technical and humanitarian supplies to people trapped in the combat regions.
