An in-depth look at WAFIOS machines: At the start of October, around 200 machine operators and production managers had the opportunity to learn more about the various wire, spring, tube bending, and straightening and cutting machines in small groups in Wuppertal during our basic and expert training sessions. The program was held over three days. This was the first year that we have offered training in this form – and it was free for those taking part.

The idea of a skills shortage is a key theme in the business world. One of the factors here is whether the right training is available and knowledge is passed on. With its basic and expert training programs, the WAFIOS Machine Operators’ Week gets to the very root of this problem.

The in-depth training course was held over three days at the Wuppertal site. In addition to the WAFIOS AG machines, the WAFIOS Umformtechnik cold formers were also available.

“We have never put together such an in-depth training program before. I am thrilled that the response has been so positive and we were able to give lots of our customers the opportunity to expand their knowledge when working with the machines,” enthuses Dr, Uwe-Peter Weigmann, Speaker of the Board. We hope to continue with the concept for many years to come.

The individual training sessions covered the special features of the various machines. The operators were able to work live on the machines and learn how to program sample parts and use different iQ functions, to name just a few examples. The iQ functions are software solutions that differ by machine and make processes, such as setup, easier. During the training sessions, the focus was on sharing information and experiences with one another, as well as new approaches in assisted program creation and new options and expansions for the machines.

What’s more, there was a little something for the more competitive participants. Anyone who was able to guess the correct amount of springs in a vase was in with a shot at the prize – an iPad Mini. The participants and instructors finished off the week together with an evening event on the last day.
